Hydra are a sub-category of Dragons. The only thing that sets them apart is, that Hydra have three heads instead of one. Otherwise, they are the same as Dragons. Of course, the three heads do not always have the same opinion, which a experienced adventurer can use to his or her advantage.

Hydra usually roam through dungeons.

• First appearance: Ultima IV

• Last appearance: Ultima VII

First encountered in Ultima IV, the Hydra made a strange mutation to a plant in Ultima VI, before returning to its true form in Ultima VII. Actually, only one Hydra can be encountered in Ultima VII (more below).

• The Avatar meets a Hydra in Ultima VII on the island Ambrosia. A hilarious conversation follows with all three heads, before the Avatar has to kill it to gain access to a meteorite.
