Sosaria

Sosaria is the pre-Ultima IV name for the continent later known as Britannia.

Before the land of Britannia was formed by the great cataclysm, it was known as Sosaria. Sosaria was a large land containing many feuding city states. Because these city states were always in conflict, the land grew bitter and warlike.
Once Sosaria consisted of four continents, named The Lands of Lord British, The Lands of the Dark Unknown, The Lands of the Feudal Lords and the Lands of Danger and Despair, later known as the Serpent Isle. When the Stranger defeated Mondain the wizard in, the world was thundered apart, the other three continents thought lost. The Lands of Lord British were now called Sosaria, the land reformed by this event.
It wasn't until The Third Age of Darkness when the foul creation known as Exodus ruled, that the land was focused on a common goal. When the The Stranger (who would later be called The Avatar) destroyed Exodus, the land was rocked by the great cataclysm completely reforming the continent. It was at this time that the guidance of Lord British allowed the people to rebuild the land into the splendor that is Britannia.
